Gackt

One of the top-stars of J-Rock. Hails from the island of Okinawa in southern Japan. In the early stages of his career he was the singer and drummer of the band Cains:Feel (formed in 1989). In the fall of 1995 he joined the visual kei band Malice Mizer (formed in 1992). He replaced lead singer Tesu who was fired the year before. The highlight of his time with Malice Mizer was the album »Merveilles«, released in 1998.
The following year Gackt left Malice Mizer (the group disbanded in 2001) and started his solo career. In April 2000 he released his long awaited debut album »Mars« that included three of the seven singles he had released from May 1999 through March 2000 - »Vanilla«, »Mirror« und »Oasis«.
Recently went into acting. Starred in the movie »Moonchild« (released in 2003), a science fiction action movie, alongside another very popular figure of J-Rock, L'Arc en ciel lead singer Hyde.
